bass: "any knives for grind?"

have you seen the movie musical OLIVER?

i just had a moment from that movie.

i'm sitting here, on my computer, conjugating the imparfait and i hear this incessant bell ringing. it goes on and on and on and on and...well, you get the idea. and it doesn't stop. in fact, it's STILL happening right now. and i'm TRYING to conjugate, and listening to this bell ringing and finally i have to go to the window to see what the racket is about.

i can't see out the bedroom window, so i move to the other room. it's an older gentleman, ringing a bell and pushing a sort of cart. on the cart are painted scissors and knives. he's the sharpener! he pushes this cart through the streets and you bring down your knives and scissors.

now i have "who will buy" running through my head, with the low bass singers "any knives for gri-iiind?"

la la la.

"who will buy, my sweet red ro - oh -ses..two blooms for a penny..."
"any milk today, mistress...?"
oh. boy. this is going to be in my head ALLLL day.

::blinks::
i think it's going to be one of those days.
