what's in a name?

the other day, in my phonology class, (the one where i learn to pronounce things as a brit - jolly good fun), one of the example sentences "Does Peter live in Liverpool?" prompted this question from the prof:

"Do you know what the word is for someone who comes from Liverpool?"

and so, i'm asking you.
do YOU know?

comment away people!
"and this is for posterity, so please, no googling."

this morning, in commenting on this question to kimmay, the following question came up:

"what do you call people from different states?"

i knew "michigander", being one myself and all.
kim was a bit fuzzy on what one from arizona is called. (arizonan or arizonian)

but do you know all the others?

we didn't, but we do now.

Is he Liverpudlian?

I didn't look at the link, but I believe I have been a New Yorker, a Texan, a Floridian and a Carolinian!

I'm going to say Liverpudlian....I think I saw that in a Beatles biography once.

From Stefanie, the Oregonian/Pennsylvanian/District of Columbian (I just made that one up, k?)/Parisian

liverpudlian is correct! scouse is actually a dialect (that came up in class too.) looking up on wiki, scouse, it said that liverpudlians are also called scousers.

la rêveuse - you win the satisfaction of knowing you were correct. :)
